In 1886 a small group of Southern Baptists and Methodists agreed to build a two story meeting place located the Watts mine, owned by the Watts Coal Company. The union between these two groups resulted in naming the church Watts Union Church. The church remained in that location for more than 80 years and eventually changed the name to Westside Baptist Church .

Our current facility was constructed on property donated by A.G. Crane. The first meeting was held in May, 1969. Brother Crane quoted Psalm 126:3 “The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.”

Past and current members of Westside Baptist Church have been an integral part of the history and growth of our community. Our goal is to continue impacting our community for our Lord Jesus Christ in the 21st century.
